Assalamu alaykum {{first_name|Barakah Seeker}}

We’ve all been there at some point in life: Wanting to achieve everything at once. Whether it’s in our career, studies, or routines… We push ourselves to do more and more.

But at some point, you find yourself doing without being. You keep ticking off tasks, grinding through habits, yet you feel disconnected from your deen and from yourself.

I’ve been there too, and honestly? It’s not easy to get out of this cycle and create real space for peace, reflection, and purpose. Let’s dive deeper.

Torn Between Dunya Goals

Many of us are pulled toward dunya (worldly) goals and slowly lose touch with our Islamic identity. How often do we take a break and actually come back stronger in our deen?

The dunya is fast-paced. Everyone tells us what we should be doing:

  • “You should get your driver’s license by 18.”

  • “Build your career and climb higher.”

  • “Live your life to the fullest.”

  • “Follow your desires.”

But as Muslims, we must remind ourselves: This world is temporary.

“This worldly life is no more than play and amusement. But the Hereafter is indeed the real life, if only they knew.”

Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider), Verse 64

This verse reminds us that the akhirah (hereafter) is our true and final destination. We are travelers in this dunya, created to worship Allah alone.

So shouldn’t our daily actions and routines always lead us back to Him?

Bringing Back the Correct Niyyah (Intention)

Every daily task can become an act of worship, if we make the right intention. Allah has made it easy for us to earn rewards, yet many of us forget to renew our niyyah.

You cook daily? → Intend to feed your loved ones for Allah’s sake.

You clean your home? → Intend to please Allah by following the Sunnah: Cleanliness is half of faith.

You care for your body, mind, and soul? → Intend to look after the amanah (trust) Allah gave you.

See how easily you can turn your routines into worship? Reflect on your daily habits and tie each one back to Allah. Then keep renewing your intentions often.

Doing More ≠ Being Better

It’s great to have goals in both dunya (wordly life) and deen (religion), but remember:
Doing more doesn’t always mean being better.

I had to learn that the hard way. I used to take on too many habits at once, only to burn out after a few weeks. But Islam teaches us something beautiful:

Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
“The Prophet ﷺ was asked, ‘What deeds are loved most by Allah?’ He said, ‘The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few.’ He added, 'Don't take upon yourselves, except the deeds which are within your ability.’"

Sahih al-Bukhari 6465

Consistency matters more than quantity. Everyone’s capacity is different and that’s okay. Some can work out daily, others can only do it twice a week. What matters is sincerity and steadiness.

The key is to do what you can maintain, while balancing your time between yourself, the dunya, and Allah.
